The President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev participated in the opening ceremony of the thirteenth session of the World Urban Forum, held in Baku under the auspices of the United Nations Human Settlements Programme.

The President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev participated in the opening ceremony of the thirteenth session of the World Urban Forum, held in Baku under the auspices of the United Nations Human Settlements Programme.

Upon arrival at the Baku Congress Center, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev was welcomed by the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and by Anacláudia Rossbach, Executive Director of the United Nations Human Settlements Programme.

A joint photo ceremony of the participants was held.

This year’s forum is being held under the theme “Housing the world: Safe and resilient cities and communities”, bringing together heads of state and government, as well as leaders of international organizations and development institutions.

The forum agenda focuses on sustainable urban development, expanding access to modern, affordable housing, improving the quality of the urban environment, strengthening climate resilience, developing social and transportation infrastructure, and enhancing housing finance mechanisms.

The President of Uzbekistan is expected to address the forum’s Leaders’ Summit.
