VOTING IS RESPONSIBILITY

Polling station No 40 is located in the building of the Karshi railway workers culture palace in the town of Karshi, Qashqadaryo Region. A list of 2 thousand 215 voters living in the Shohbekat neighbourhood has been put up in an easy-to-see area in the polling station. There citizens can familiarize themselves with the up-to-date electoral legislation.

The country’s electoral legislation provides for the possibility of early voting. In order to vote early, voters should submit an application to the chairman of the precinct electoral commission and specify a reason for them being absent from their place of residence on election day.

“I am going to a sanatorium in our capital city to restore my health. I am over 70 years of age. Voting is our duty. Feeling this duty, I have exercised my right of early voting provided in our country’s legislation and voted for the candidate of my choice,” says Salima Roziyeva.

According to information from Qashqadaryo district electoral commission No 13 for the elections of President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, to date nearly 4 thousand citizens have voted early. Their filled-in ballot papers are kept in signed and sealed envelopes. These votes will also be counted with the participation of political parties’ authorised representatives at the conclusion of the elections.
