UZBEKISTAN WILL CREATE NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC INFORMATION SYSTEM BY 2017

This was stated by First Deputy Chairman of the State Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan on Land Resources, Geodesy, Cartography and State Cadastre Tulkin Abdullayev at a press conference, held on August 19 in Tashkent.

According to him, the National Geographic Information System of the Republic of Uzbekistan (NGIS) will be formed as part of the "e-Government" and will provide for the establishment of satellite geodetic network, a unified computerized state cadastre and registration of real estate.

$ 25-million-worth-project will be carried out by the loan from South Korean Eximbank in the amount of $ 15 million. The loan is granted for a period of 40 years, including a ten-year grace period. The project will create a multi-purpose information system to provide a single national accounting and valuation of complex natural and economic potential of the country and its separate territories, as well as operational support of public authorities, businesses and individuals with necessary cadastral information for their activities.

The tender for the creation of NGIS won South Korea’s ICT Technologies. The project will be completed in 2017.
