"UZBEKISTAN'S EXPERIENCE IN THE CONTEXT OF MDG SERVES AS A GOOD BASIS FOR ACHIEVING SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT"

Opening ceremony of the photo exhibition devoted to the taken measures in Uzbekistan on achieving the Millennium Development Goals was held in Brussels.

The participants highly appreciated the endeavors for the achievement of the MDG objectives and results of large-scale reforms in the socio-economic sphere in the country.

In particular, in an interview Information Agency "Jahon" a professor of international relations at the Free University of Brussels Hilbern Baise noted that the successes of the republic achieved in a short period of independent development is very impressive.

— I am very well acquainted with the achievements of Uzbekistan. I was lucky a few times to visit your beautiful country, which occupied a central position on the Silk Road as a key intersection since ancient times. I was amazed fr om the achievements of the Uzbek people in the consistent implementation of reforms for the modernization and renewal of the country.

The National Programme for Personnel Training and State National Program for School Education are of great significance. They have radically changed not only the education and upbringing of the younger generation, but also the life of the entire society.

Thanks to this, millions of Uzbek children now receive education and training in new and overhauled educational institutions. It is encouraging to see that now there are nearly 10 thousand schools, 1556 schools and colleges, more than 70 universities in Uzbekistan, wh ere the younger generation studies on the basis of a new educational system and masters modern professions, enabling them to find a worthy place in life.

I wish you further successes in strengthening the foundations of sovereign development and expresses its readiness to contribute to the strengthening of scientific ties with Uzbek colleagues to familiarize the European audience with a rich history and culture of Uzbekistan, as well as the modern life of the country.

President of the Belgian company Agrotech Alain Humbeek informed that the photo exhibition reflects the quality and the positive changes that have taken place in Uzbekistan.

"Visiting your country every time I am personally convinced of the high level of social and economic development of the republic. I believe that the gradual establishment of elected strategy is fully justified, as, in particular, consistently high GDP growth rates in the global financial and economic crisis shows this.

A balanced and well thought-out policy of the republic allows to maintain high sustained performance in agriculture.

Recently I took part in the international specialized exhibition Agrominitech Expo for mini-technologies and compact equipment in Uzbekistan. I believe that the holding of such events contributes to strengthening of relations between domestic and foreign producers of agricultural equipment.

I think that the further deepening of the ongoing large-scale reforms in the country will open more opportunities for accelerated development, will create the conditions for lifting the company to a higher level and improve the investment environment in the country.

In addition, it should be noted that the accumulated experience of Uzbekistan in the framework of the MDGs will serve as a good basis for the achievement of sustainable development.
