UZBEKISTAN HAS LAUNCHED 4G LTE TDD NETWORK

The Metropolitan International Tashkent Hotel hosted the official launch ceremony of the new fourth-generation LTE network in Uzbekistan of wireless internet provider EVO (Republic of Korea).

It was attended by officials, representatives of the founders and EVO, the heads of the diplomatic corps accredited in our country, as well as journalists of domestic and foreign media.

Representatives of the company Super iMAX (100% branch of Korea Telecom Corporation), known in the telecommunications market of Uzbekistan under the trademark EVO, as well as their partners during the event told about all the benefits of 4G LTE TDD technology and shared future development plans.

As the head of Super iMax LLC Kim Jong Sam, wireless Internet on technology EVO LTE will open up new opportunities for the people of Uzbekistan. According to him, the data transfer rate is much higher than that of other existing providers in the country and is 100 Mb/s, which allows to quickly and efficiently handle a large volume of information on the Internet.

Senior Vice President of Korea Telecom Corporation Mun Jon Yong stressed that the project was allocated 10 million USD, and the total amount of investments in 2008 amounted to 26.5 million USD. He thanked his Uzbek colleagues for their cooperation and expressed hope that Uzbekistan become a leading country in the field of ICT in Central Asia.

The work of the deployment, commissioning and optimization of the network 4G LTE TDD in Tashkent started in April this year. The territorial scope of services currently stands at 97.4%. By 2016, the service will be available also in Samarkand, Bukhara and major administrative centers of the Ferghana Valley, replacing Wi-Max technology.

In the framework of the event a ceremony of awarding active subscribers EVO also held.
