From April 25 to 30, a delegation from Uzbekistan, comprising representatives from the IT sector, visited Berlin and Munich at the initiative of the "Uzbekistan-Germany" Friendship Society, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.
The purpose of the visit was to familiarize the delegation with Germany’s advanced expertise in digital literacy, digital skills, and IT research, as well as to strengthen cultural ties, facilitate exchanges among young professionals in the field of education, promote "people’s diplomacy", and support compatriots living abroad.
The working visit was organized by the Embassy of Uzbekistan with the support of the Committee on Interethnic Relations and Compatriots abroad under the Cabinet of Ministers, the Ministry of Digital Technologies, and the "Uzbekistan-Germany" Friendship Society.
During the visit to Munich, a series of significant events were held, focusing on bilateral cooperation. In particular, the Uzbek delegation visited the production facilities of Apple and explored the educational programs related to artificial intelligence at Ludwig Maximilian University. The delegation also attended a modern automobile exhibition organized by the world-renowned company BMW, where they learned about the innovations and best practices being implemented in the industry. Throughout the visit, there was an exchange of views on the implementation of innovative and joint projects in the IT sector.
The delegation also celebrated Navruz with compatriots working in the IT sector and German guests. The event provided participants with an opportunity to explore the cultural diversity and values of the Uzbek people. A photo exhibition titled "New Uzbekistan — Through New Eyes" and a display of traditional handicrafts allowed attendees to experience this firsthand. Traditional dishes such as pilaf and sumalak added to the warmth of the celebration.
Representatives from the "Bavaria-Uzbekistan" and "Uzbekistan-Germany" Friendship Societies agreed to further develop mutual cultural and educational ties, act as reliable partners and coordinators in scientific relations, and contribute to the strengthening of people’s diplomacy.
As part of the program, Mohira Abdullaeva, a leading specialist from the "Uzbekistan-Germany" Friendship Society, delivered a report on "Uzbekistan – A Land of Interethnic Harmony and Tolerance" and provided information about the efforts and opportunities created in Uzbekistan over the past years in the fields of people’s diplomacy, national cultural centers, and societies of friendship and tolerance. A discussion also took place with representatives from the digital technology sector about achievements in the field, the development of the digital economy, and new projects related to the e-government system.
The final meeting occurred at the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Berlin. During the meeting, Ambassador Dilshod Akhatov emphasized the importance of the discussions and negotiations in fostering bilateral cooperation, noting that agreements in the field of digital technologies aimed at expanding academic ties and investment projects would yield positive results. He further stated that the outcomes of these negotiations would contribute to the strengthening of bilateral cooperation between Uzbekistan and Germany and the realization of new promising projects. The diplomat also provided the delegation with several proposals and recommendations for advancing the relationship between the sister cities of Berlin and Tashkent to a new level.
