THE VISIT OF THE DEPUTY DIRECTOR-GENERAL OF UNESCO TO THE NATIONAL LIBRARY OF UZBEKISTAN

The Deputy Director-General of UNESCO, Eric Falt, visited National Library of Uzbekistan named after Alisher Navoi.

During the visit the distinguished guests were provided with detailed information about the history of the library, built on the initiative of President Islam Karimov, created conditions for users, about the newest information technologies used in the creation of an electronic database, the development of partnerships in the framework of various projects.

E.Falt visited the museum of the book, exhibition, multimedia and electronic halls. In addition, the guest visited the department of manuscripts, unique and valuable editions. He expressed interest in the work of restoration and conservation of books which are literary monuments of world and national heritage.

The deputy head of UNESCO also appreciated the availability of information kiosks that make enable for users to familiarize themselves with the latest information on the activities of the library, online resources, kiosks of audio resources, and he noted their effective role in the development of the library.
