The President of Uzbekistan meets with the EBRD President

On November 16, at the Kuksaroy Residence, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev met with the EBRD President Odile Renaud-Basso, who arrived in Uzbekistan to attend the first meeting of the Foreign Investors Council and the Samarkand EU – Central Asia Connectivity Conference.

The current state and prospects for enhancing fruitful cooperation with the EBRD were considered.

The President of Uzbekistan noted with satisfaction that over the past six years, the interaction of Uzbekistan with this authoritative financial institution has reached an unprecedented level. The Bank is one of the main partners of Uzbekistan in the implementation of important socio-economic programs.

Views were exchanged on further expansion of mutually beneficial partnerships in such priority areas as the introduction of public-private partnership mechanisms, the implementation of PPP projects in the energy sector, transport and logistics, healthcare, education, housing and communal services, as well as in the green development and support of women and youth entrepreneurship.

Odile Renaud-Basso praised the ongoing socio-economic reforms in Uzbekistan and expressed her readiness to build up fruitful cooperation.

The practical aspects of preparing for the next Annual Meeting of the Board of Governors of the Bank in the city of Samarkand were also discussed.

Following the meeting, an agreement was reached on the adoption of a joint roadmap, which provides for specific measures to strengthen cooperation between Uzbekistan and the EBRD.
