The Ombudsman holds meetings as part of the UN Human Rights Council session

As previously reported, Geneva hosts the 55th session of the Human Rights Council. The Authorized Person of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Human Rights (Ombudsman) Feruza Eshmatova also attended the event.

As part of her visit to Geneva, the Ombudsman of Uzbekistan met with representatives of several authoritative organizations.

Meetings were held with representatives of the UN Human Rights Office and the Global Alliance of National Human Rights Institutions.

International experts were informed about the essential strategies adopted in Uzbekistan to enhance human dignity and the success achieved due to their implementation, constitutional reforms and goals defined in the Uzbekistan 2030 Strategy, and Uzbekistan’s experience in preventing torture.

During the talks, it was emphasized that the international conference held by experts in connection with the 29th anniversary of the Ombudsman institution served as a platform for strengthening cooperation in protecting human rights, studying best practices in the implementation of international obligations, as well as discussing current issues on the agenda.

Representatives of influential international human rights organizations noted positive changes in Uzbekistan and expressed interest in strengthening cooperation.
