Tashkent hosted an international conference dedicated to increasing the coverage and development of the quality of education in Uzbekistan.

Within the framework of the week of initiatives of the international partnership "New Uzbekistan: development, innovation and education", the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation of the Republic of Uzbekistan held an international conference on the theme «Quality education and innovation - the basis of a sustainable future», reports “Dunyo” IA correspondent.

In the speech at the conference, the Minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovation, Academician Ibrohim Abdurakhmonov noted that as a result of the reforms of the last 5 years, effective mechanisms have been developed in our country to increase the coverage and development of the quality of education, ensure the flexibility of the training system to the needs of the economy and further improve innovative potential of the country.

In order to develop a continuous ecosystem in the formation of a creative economy in the country, the Strategy for Innovative Development of New Uzbekistan was adopted. It set the task of entering Uzbekistan into the Top 50 countries in the world ranking of the Global Innovation Index.

It should be noted that over the past 6 years, the number of universities in the higher education system of Uzbekistan has increased from 77 to 210. It was noted that due to the involvement of the private sector, 65 non-state higher educational institutions were created, the number of foreign universities was increased to 30, and state - to 115.

The system of financing science and scientific activities has been diversified. Funds allocated to science and innovation by industrial enterprises and the private sector for 2018-2022 increased 3 times. In 2018-2022, the number of quotas allocated for doctoral studies increased by 7.1 times. As a preparatory stage for postgraduate education, the institution of trainee researchers was introduced, thanks to which 1,200 young scientists were covered.
