Sustained economic growth and implementation of socially oriented programs, particularly in education and health, enabled Uzbekistan to achieve rapid progress towards achieving the Millennium Development Goals.

Resident Coordinator of the United Nations in our country, Stefan Prisner stated in an interview with the Information Agency "Jahon".

— Over the years of independence, Uzbekistan has achieved significant progress in its economic and social development, - the representative of the United Nations said. - Measures to improve the quality of education in primary and secondary education, the empowerment of women, improving maternal health, combating HIV / AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria, ensuring environmental sustainability, which are implemented within the country - all of this is worthy of high praise.

It should be noted that strong social policy is one of the key principles of the national development strategy of Uzbekistan. In this context, classified in 2015 in the country as the "Year of attention and care for the senior generation" has become a natural and logical continuation of the noble objectives as protecting the interests of human welfare of all members of society.

In turn, the UNDP and the UN system in close cooperation with the Uzbek side is working on various projects to improve the level and quality of life of elderly, increasing the extent of their material and moral support, the improvement of social, pension and health care.

In general, a partnership between the UNO and its institutions with Uzbekistan developing intensively. Thus, the total amount of projects implemented in the country for the entire period of cooperation more than 434 million USD. The funds were directed to programs for strengthening public administration, environmental protection, agriculture, health, culture, science and education, energy and communications.

Taking this opportunity, I want to assure you that all units of the United Nations Mission in Uzbekistan in cooperation with national partners to successfully interact in the implementation of the priorities of the cooperation program for 2016-2020.
