RESPECT AND HONOUR FOR YOU, SOLDIERS' MOTHERS

“My son Mirzoulughbek Mingboyev is doing military service in Zangiota District of Tashkent Region. He set an example in terms of combat readiness for his peers to follow, and the command of the military unit sent a letter of gratitude to us. When I saw this letter, my heart was filled with pride, and I was over the moon. There is no greater prize for parents than gratitude for their children’s effort.”

These are words of O.Tojiyeva, who took part in an event entitled “We honour soldiers’ mothers” held by the hokimiyat (governorate) of Namangan Region in cooperation with the regional women’s committee and the regional directorate for defence issues.

This event was held on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the formation of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Uzbekistan and 14 January – Motherland Defenders’ Day, and was attended by the mothers of soldiers doing fixed-term military service, representatives of state and public organizations, young people and employees of mass media.

H.Yusupova, the chairwoman of the regional women’s committee and deputy hokim (governor) of the region; J.Boqiyev, the chief of the regional department of the Uzbekistan Writers Association; and others said that the professional national army formed under the leadership of the country’s First President Islam Karimov served to ensure the inviolability of its borders and its people’s peace.

During the gathering, soldiers’ mothers were given letters of gratitude and gifts for selflessness displayed in bringing up children to be brave and courageous defenders of the Motherland and in instilling in the younger generation feelings of love for the Motherland and devotion to ideas of independence.

During the event, a number of soldiers’ mothers met their sons doing their manly duty with honour in Namangan and the neighbouring regions. Soldiers’ mothers M.Dadajonova, C.Tojiboyeva and H.Bobonazarova expressed sincere gratitude for the respect and honour shown to them.

Melodies and songs performed by the region’s artistes about the Motherland, independence, peace and kindness created a festive atmosphere at the event.
