Representative of Uzbekistan unanimously elected to UNECE Working Party on Land Administration

Elections for the 2025–2027 term of the Working Party on Land Administration under the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) were held in Geneva, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

For the first time in history, a representative of Uzbekistan was unanimously elected to this intergovernmental body.

Alongside Uzbekistan, the newly elected members include representatives from Spain, Italy, Greece, Germany, Serbia, and Turkiye.

The Working Party plays a key role in shaping international policy on land administration. Its mission includes developing efficient land registration systems, promoting sustainable land use, improving cadastral infrastructure, and expanding the use of geospatial data. In addition, it provides expert support to governments in drafting and implementing land policies, monitoring their progress, and developing cadastre-related projects.

The election took place during the 14th session of the Working Party. During the event, Uzbekistan presented its ongoing reforms in the digitalization of the national cadastre, capacity building, and the adoption of advanced international practices.

Membership in the Working Party opens new opportunities for Uzbekistan to contribute to the formulation of global policy on land ownership rights in the context of digital transformation, urbanization, climate change, and increasingly interconnected economic ecosystems.
