President of Geneva Diplomatic Circle Robert Bloom shared his opinions and estimates on the path passed by Uzbekistan over the years of independence.
— After repeated visits to your country, I can say that the country is at a very important stage in its development, which has gained a dynamic and ambitious character. Socio-political and socio-economic reforms in the country under the leadership of President Islam Karimov, will contribute to further progress of the state and welfare of the people.
It is gratifying that Uzbekistan continues to increase its trade and economic and financial capacity. However, active work is being done to promote the export opportunities of the republic at the international level. The country’s participation in the World Exhibition Expo Milano-2015 is a good help in this direction.
I know that your region is a major producer of fruits and vegetables. I was pleasantly surprised that you have grown almost 90% of vegetables and fruits are biologically pure, because it does not use chemical fertilizers. For us in Europe, these aspects are very important. The existing potential of the country allows you to further expand the scope of supply of agricultural products to foreign markets.
I believe that the decision of the Uzbek government on the approval of the Program of further reform, structural transformation and diversification of the economy for the period of 2015-2019, which provides for the privatization of 1000 enterprises and attracting foreign investment, is a right and timely demanded package of measures. The promotion of private entrepreneurship, including the recently approved new regulations to strengthen the protection of investors’ rights, positive impact on the future economic development of the country.
In Europe, your country is considered as a promising market with significant growth potential. Attractive factors for investors are the development of production and transport infrastructure of the country, acting here privileges and preferences, as well as the high intellectual potential of young people.
In order to expand trade and economic relations, we are going to organize this November trip a group of businessmen from different countries of our continent to Uzbekistan. In addition, within the framework of the visit the delegation intends to participate in the International Investment Forum, to be held November 5-6 in Tashkent. I am confident that we will be able to spend a very fruitful talks with Uzbek firms and companies about the possibilities of deepening cooperation.
In conclusion I would like to congratulate the people of Uzbekistan with the 24th anniversary of the state independence and to express best wishes for prosperity, the most dynamic economic, social and cultural development!
