President criticizes the banking system

Special attention in the President’s Address is also paid to issues of privatization, attracting foreign investment, reducing debt, reforming organizations that are under state administration, developing transport, energy, construction, including roads and education.

"We need to take decisive measures to develop science and capital market”, says Shavkat Mirziyoyev. “If we do not develop these areas, we will not be able to achieve our goal. Unfortunately, banking system is 10-15 years behind the current requirements for development of digital technologies, introduction of new banking products and software. Some may not like it, but the fact is that the banking system is lagging behind. We use the old system. There are no laws, no progress, and no personnel. If new types of services are not introduced in the banking sector, how will we achieve economic stability?

It was noted that starting from 2020, each Bank will implement a large-scale transformation program, with the focus on improving the resource base and profitability.

“If banks can’t provide customers with any services, why do we need them?” asked the President.
