PRESENTATION OF ECONOMIC AND INVESTMENT POTENTIAL OF UZBEKISTAN IN CANADA

The head office of the Canada Eurasia Russia Business Association (CERBA) in Toronto hosted a presentation of economic and investment potential of Uzbekistan.

Representatives of the Canadian business community, including such digging, like Bombardier, Iris Power, SkyPower, Phoenix Geophysics Limited, Stark Armoring, Blue Chip Technologies, Prime Methods, Syrion Corporation, Weavercroft International, Talking Travel and others attended it.

During the event, detailed information on the favorable investment climate, benefits, and conditions created in our country for successful business, has been presented in a multimedia format.

Particular attention drawn to the vast possibilities of FIEZ "Navoi, SIZ "Angren" and "Jizzakh", as well as specific investment projects proposed for joint implementation with Canadian companies in these areas.

In addition, participants received information on socio-economic development of Uzbekistan over the years of independence, the achievements of the republic in the Millennium Development Goals, as well as its rich cultural and historical heritage and tourism potential.

The participants received materials, magazines and brochures, as well as a list of priority investment projects, fairs and exhibitions in the second half of 2015.

The presentation aroused wide interest among those present. In particular, the participants were interested in various aspects of doing business in the country, including information on the legal acts guaranteeing protection of the interests of foreign investors, opening opportunities of Canadian enterprises in Uzbekistan, the procedure for registration of business visas and other issues.

Thus, the Chairman of the Board of CERBA Robert Fozeringam noted the readiness of the Association to act as a link between the Canadian business community and our country. According to him, the expansion of cooperation with the Uzbek side is fully consistent with the mission CERBA, which includes the promotion of trade, economic and investment ties between Canada and the countries of Eurasia.

Senior Vice President of SkyPower (solar energy), Robert Carrillo was interested in issues of development of the field of alternative energy sources in Uzbekistan. He announced his intention to visit our country to discuss opportunities for joint projects in the field of solar energy, including the production of solar panels in one of the industrial zones of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

President Syreon Corporation (medical equipment and pharmaceuticals) Irina Stalevka noted the following:

— I’m going to proceed to a detailed study of priority investment projects for the production of medical equipment and drugs in Uzbekistan. In the near future, our company will develop and bring to the Uzbek side, the project for the supply and manufacture of medical devices.

The representative of the School of Business at York University Alina Piekarski (member of CERBA) announced its establishment interest in establishing cooperation with universities in Uzbekistan, specializing in training in the mining sector.

— In case of interest from the Uzbek side we are ready to work out concrete proposals on cooperation with universities in the country, - she said.
