Tashkent has hosted a press conference of the National Association of Nongovernmental Nonprofit Organizations of Uzbekistan to discuss the outcomes of its activity in 2016 and plans for 2017.
Last year, as its representatives pointed out, the National Association carried out comprehensive information-analytical and spiritual-enlightenment works to strengthen the role and importance of nongovernmental organizations, and their social and economic activity. Many projects of the social bodies of the Association won the contests announced by the Parliamentary Commission for the Management of Assets of the Oliy Majlis Public Fund for the Support of NGOs and Other Civil Society Institutions.
In the Year of Dialogue with the People and Human Interests, the Association has embarked on systemic efforts to improve the business knowledge and skills of the population, promote the integration into the society of citizens in need, increase the medical culture in families and streamline the spiritual and moral education of young people.
“In the past year a number of projects were implemented on active work with youth in villages and rural areas, support of women in establishing business, as well as their social and legal support,” the head of the Karakalpakstan branch of the Center for Support of Civil Initiatives, Gulsara Jullibekova, said. “This year, we are implementing the projects to support young people willing to start their business, and other areas.”
The event also include the ceremony of awarding the winners of the creative competitions ‘The Best Social Project of 2016’ and ‘The Best Editorial and Journalist Covering the Activities of NGOs.’
