The Committee of the Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis on Science, Education, Culture and Sports has listened to a report presented by the Chairman of the State Committee for Land Resources, Geodesy, Cartography and State Cadastre.
The talk was about the implementation of the Law “On surveying and mapping”, which along with other legislative acts provides the legal foundation for regulating these activities.
“We carry out a systematic work on the creation, updating and publication of detailed maps of the country in the graphic, digital, photographic and other forms,: said chairman of the State Committee on Land Resources, Geodesy, Cartography and State Cadastre Saidqul Arabov. “These materials are effectively used in various sectors of economy in creating the images of territories on maps, in city planning, defense, and geological monitoring. We also compile and publish general geographic, political, administrative, scientific-information, thematic maps and atlases, educational and mapping manuals.”
Atlases and contour maps, general geographic and political-administrative maps of the Republic of Karakalpakstan and regions have been published for the needs of the public educational institutions. We have put on line the publication of tourist maps with indication of places of interest, historical and architectural monuments and such other sightseeing places of the country in the Uzbek, Russian and English languages. The new edition of “The Geographical Atlas of the Republic of Uzbekistan” has been published in connection with the 25th anniversary of independence.
In their discussion the deputies noted that there were cases of late registration of geodesic and cartographic works, technical failures in submitting reports on the work performed and the state of geodesic points, and violations of metrological certification of surveying tools. In particular, there were shortcomings in this sphere identified in the course of planned inspections carried out in 2015 and the first half of this year. Thus, these inspections revealed cases of non-compliance with the requirements of normative-legal acts in the activities of the “Guliston loyiha suv”, “Surhon kafolat loyiha”, and “Bukhara yul loyiha” limited liabilities companies.
Special attention at the hearings was paid to the work being carried out on the creation of a new state geodesic satellite network in Uzbekistan, which will make it possible to include it into the international geodesic network. Views were expressed on the backlog of certain provisions of the existing legislation on the organization of modern requirements, management and development of geodesy and cartography, and the need for its further improvement.
