MIIT: Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank interested in further development of fruitful cooperation with Uzbekistan

Minister of Investment, Industry and Trade of Uzbekistan Laziz Kudratov met with Vice President and Corporate Secretary at Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank Ludger Schuknecht, reports “Dunyo” IA correspondent.

According to Uzbekistan MIIT, the current state of work on implementing existing projects and prospects for expanding financial-technical cooperation with the AIIB were discussed at the meeting. The positive dynamics of growth in the volume of the current investment portfolio of the AIIB in Uzbekistan, which includes 13 projects worth more than $2.4 billion in energy, infrastructure development, transport, and medicine, was noted.

Since March 2023, the Bank has approved 3 credit lines without a state guarantee for $415 million to implement projects in the energy sector.

Ludger Schuknecht highly appreciated reforms in Uzbekistan and announced AIIB’s readiness to continue working together.

“Uzbekistan is the first country with which we are working on a three-year cycle of projects”, says Ludger Schuknecht. – We focus on creating infrastructure, strengthening human capital, developing the private sector, and promoting global issues to curb climate change. We are interested in further development of fruitful cooperation with your country”.

Following the meeting, the parties agreed on an agenda of active cooperation aimed at the qualitative implementation of current joint projects and the development of new areas of collaboration.
