LIGHT INDUSTRY OF UZBEKISTAN: EXPORT OF GOODS INCREASED 120 TIMES FOR THE YEARS OF INDEPENDENCE

Light industry - an important sector of the economy, producing mainly consumer goods from various types of raw materials. For Uzbekistan, a country with many millions of people, this sector plays an important role in meeting the domestic demand for the specified products and expansion of the export potential of the republic.

The successful development of the domestic light industry is due to the presence of a number of positive factors, beginning from the availability of the necessary legal framework and the necessary raw materials (including cotton and silk), till favorable business conditions and broad package of benefits and privileges for investors, political and macroeconomic stability.

Today, the share of this sector in the structure of GDP is 3.8%, in the volume of industrial production - 26.2%, and in the volume of non-food consumer goods - over 44%.

Thanks to taken measures for implementation of high modern technology in the light industry of Uzbekistan in the country during the years of independence the export of manufactured production increased by 120 times, and its volume at the end of 2014 amounted to $ 1 billion. Today, the domestic textile products are in demand in 50 countries of Europe, Asia, North and South America.

Today more than 180 large investment projects have been realized in the sphere of light industry in Uzbekistan, foreign investments worth of $ 2.2 billion have been attracted and more than 70,000 jobs have been created.

Year by year the development of the industry is gaining tremendous momentum. So, in the last 3 years 92 industrial enterprises worth $ 575.3 million were put into operation in the country. Their export potential is amounted $ 215.8 million. More than 11,600 jobs were reated.

Among the most significant projects can be counted JV Indorama Kokand Textile based Kokand textile plant with a production capacity of 29 thousand tons of yarn per year, the company UZTEX GROUP, which was created together with the company Swiss Capital (Switzerland) and can produce the production of 12 thousand tons of cotton yarn per year, as well as SP RIETER UZBEKISTAN producing the tape, carding, ring spinning machines, which was established on the basis of the former PO "Uzbektekstilmash" by the Swiss company Maschinenfabrik Rieter AG.

According to the information of Shukhrat Rakhimov, head of "Uzbekengilsanoat" who told during a press conference held at the National Press Center of Uzbekistan, 18 new industrial enterprises worth $ 99 billion will be put into operation on the eve of the 24th anniversary of the independence of our country. As a result more than 1,000 jobs will be created and export potential of new enterprises amounted up to $ 43.1 billion.

— In general, 32 new industrial enterprises was planned to put into operation in 2015. To date, taking into account the input productions in the near future, 24 companies have been created, - noted Sh.Rahimov in an interview information agency "Jahon". - On the subsequent development program, we plan to increase production by 3 times, including cotton yarn - by 2.5 times, finished fabric - 2.8 times, silk fabrics - by 2.7 times, of nonwovens - 1.5 times, knitted fabric - 2.7 times up to 2020. Therefore, production and finished products with high added value increased, and we expect that the volume of garments will increase by 3.2 times, and knitted garments of raw silk - by 2.1 times. In the future is also scheduled to establish the production of artificial and synthetic fibers and filaments, which is required for the further development of the clothing and garment and knitwear industry, as well as the expansion of the export structure in the country.
