KOREAN EXPERT: UZBEKISTAN PAYS GREAT ATTENTION TO ENVIRONMENTAL ISSUES

In an interview with Jahon Information Agency in Seoul, head of "Central Asia" department, associate professor of the Institute for the Study of Central Asia at the University of Foreign Languages of the Republic of Korea, Lee Ji Yeon shared views and assessments on the development of civil society in our country as an example of the Ecological Movement of Uzbekistan.

— Ecological Movement of Uzbekistan unites hundreds of individual non-profit organizations working in the field of environmental protection and human health, - she said.

According to the Korean expert, Ecological Movement plays a unifying and guiding role in the formation of state policy in the sphere of ecology. This shows how much attention is paid to environmental issues in the country. A striking example is the provision of a quota for Ecological Movement - 15 seats in the Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis bearing in mind the relevance of environmental issues at current stage.

The activities of the environmental movement in the country would make a positive contribution to the development and promotion of civil society, as well as improving environmental culture among the public, - Lee Ji Yeon added.
