President of Uzbekistan received the President of the World Taekwondo Federation
On August 10, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received the president of the World Taekwondo Federation Choue Chungwon.
The head of our state, warmly welcoming the guest, expressed sincere gratitude to the head of this authoritative international sports organization for his personal contribution and practical efforts aimed at popularization of taekwondo in Uzbekistan, especially among the youth.
Today more than 20 thousand of our citizens are engaged in this kind of martial art. In 1993, the National Taekwondo Association was established. Taekwondo department is operating in the Uzbek state institute of physical culture, where qualified trainers are trained.
In recent years, Uzbek athletes have been successfully participating in major international competitions, becoming winners of the world and continental championships, taking high places in the Olympic Games.
It should be noted that the World Taekwondo Federation actively promotes the development of this sport in Uzbekistan: jointly organizes various tournaments, participates in projects on creation of modern infrastructure in the country and its equipment, as well as in conduction of training camps of our national team in South Korea.
On the initiative of this international organization, the first President’s Cup of the World Taekwondo Federation for the Asian region will be held in Tashkent from August 11 to 13 this year with participation of the strongest athletes of the continent.
In recognition of personal merits of Choue Chungwon in popularization of taekwondo, as well as in development and strengthening of Uzbek – South Korean partnership relations, he was awarded the title of honorary citizen of our capital and honorary doctor of science of the National university of Uzbekistan named after Mirzo Ulugbek.
During the meeting, issues were discussed on expansion of bilateral cooperation, regular conduction of large-scale international tournaments in Uzbekistan, participation of the World Federation in organizing activities of Taekwondo faculty that is being established at the initiative of the head of our state at the National university of Uzbekistan, as well as other activities aimed at active involvement of Uzbek youth in sports.
Choue Chungwon expressed his deep gratitude to the President of our country Shavkat Mirziyoyev for the warm welcome and support for the development of taekwondo and other sports in Uzbekistan. He emphasized that the World Federation led by him is interested in joint implementation of new projects and programs of full-scale partnership with Uzbekistan.

Istedod to Provide Training Abroad for Specialists
With the approval of the decree of the head of state, the reforms began in the activities of the Fund of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan "Istedod". Now, in addition to its traditional activities to upgrade the skills of promising young pedagogical and scientific cadres, it will also organize the internships and training scholarship holders abroad. And now the fund is focused on all sectors of the economy. At the same time, its tasks included other issues.
The Fund will organize the preparation of gifted graduates of higher educational institutions, as well as qualified personnel of economic sectors of the republic selected on a competitive basis, under the Master’s and PhD programs in the leading educational and scientific institutions of developed countries to meet the needs of the economy, state and public structures in highly qualified specialists.
Measures will be realized on the attraction of highly qualified foreign scientists, teachers and specialists to the educational process in higher educational institutions and branch centers of retraining and advanced training of pedagogical personnel by establishing and developing the partnership relations with leading educational and scientific institutions of foreign countries, international and foreign organizations, and on assisting the ministries, departments and other state institutions in the organization of preliminary preparation of the candidates recommended by them for passing further training, internship and training under programs of a magistracy and PhD abroad.
The Fund will be involved in the participation of prospective specialists from various economic sectors, state and public structures, teachers, scientific personnel and gifted youth in authoritative international symposia, conferences, Olympiads and contests for the development of their scientific, pedagogical and intellectual potential and mastering international best practices.
The introduction and dissemination of advanced foreign experience, modern pedagogical technologies through the organization of conferences, seminars, master classes, trainings and other events with the participation of specialists and scientific and pedagogical staff who were interned and trained abroad, as well as those who received education in Master’s and PhD programs, and foreign specialists, was assigned as a separate task.
An essential task of the Fund is to generate data on scholarships with a view to ensuring their continued use in key sectors of the economy, as well as in new, promising areas of activity, including the development of modern materials and advanced technologies, through the creation of high-quality human and resource potential and the full stimulation of scientific and educational process.
There will be ensured the introduction of advanced knowledge and skills obtained by prospective specialists from various economic sectors, state and public structures, pedagogical and scientific personnel of the republic in the course of their advanced training, internship and education abroad, and the organization of systematic monitoring of their future work.
Also, the “Istedod” Fund will engage the scholarship recipients in the educational process of higher education institutions and centers for retraining and upgrading the skills of the leading and pedagogical staff of the republic.

Particular attention is drawn to a number of issues that are of great importance for the spiritual life of our people. Specific measures are envisaged to improve the cultural level of young people, to introduce it to the best examples of national and universal culture, to educate harmoniously developed individuals who have high spirituality and are devoted to the national idea and ideology, to develop musical art on the basis of the national musical heritage, taking into account the best achievements of world culture, Musical education to a qualitatively new level.
The State Conservatory of Uzbekistan is defined as a supreme higher educational institution to provide methodological and creative assistance in the training of personnel for music and education.
The need to further improve the pedagogical skills of the professors and teachers of the Conservatory, radically improve the quality and level of the educational process, establish cooperation with the world’s leading higher educational institutions in the field of musical art, creative centers, famous composers, musicians and performers. Along with the invitation of foreign specialists to Uzbekistan, it is planned to organize abroad master classes of musicians and teachers of our country that have achieved high results in this field.
The program also envisages the development and implementation of specific measures to create the necessary conditions for material and moral support for young pedagogical staff of the State Conservatory of Uzbekistan, providing them with housing on the basis of mortgage loans.
The lack of educational facilities, a significant increase in the contingent of its students hampered the quality of the educational process.
The resolution defines measures to effectively address these issues. To this end, the relevant organizations were instructed to transfer from the 2018/2019 academic year to the State Conservatory of Uzbekistan its old building, which currently belongs to the Uspensky Republican Specialized Music Academic Lyceum. The building of the Republican Stock Exchange will also be transferred to the Conservatory, with the construction of a modern concert hall that fully meets world standards, designed for live performance, where artistic programs of academic collectives will be demonstrated.
A scientific and methodical magazine "Music" will be organized under the foundation of the State Conservatory of Uzbekistan to effectively use the scientific potential of teachers and students.

Abdulaziz Kamilov meets with head of UNRCCA Petko Draganov
On 11 August, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Abdulaziz Kamilov met with the head of the UN Regional centre for preventive diplomacy in Central Asia (UNRCCA), Petko Draganov, who arrived in Tashkent to participate in the international conference "Central Asia – the main priority of foreign policy of Uzbekistan".
The sides exchanged views on the topics discussed at the forum.
The meeting precedes the upcoming international conference to be held in November in Samarkand under the auspices of the United Nations "Central Asia: one past and one future, cooperation for sustainable development and mutual prosperity". The event is set to see foreign ministers of CIS countries, as well as heads of leading international and regional organizations.
The meeting also discussed other issues on the regional agenda.
