HISTORY AND NATIONAL IDENTITY

At the National Press Center of Uzbekistan held a press conference on topical issues of studying the modern history of the country. The event, jointly organized by the Academy of Arts of Uzbekistan and the Academy of Public Administration under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, attended by experts of research institutions and universities.

Vice-President of the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan B.Abduhalimov, vice-rector of the Academy of Public Administration under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Abdullayev and others noted that the work carried out under the leadership of President Islam Karimov on objective study of our history is an important factor of awareness of national identity, the education of youth in the spirit of devotion to the ideas of independence, forming prosperous society.

Resolution of the President "On creation of the Public Council on the recent history of Uzbekistan under the Ministry of Higher and Secondary Special Education of the Republic of Uzbekistan" dated January 27, 2012 serves as an important guide to action in further expanding the scale of research, improvement of research projects related to the study of the history of the era of independence, wide attracting talented young scientists to research.

In order to enforce the consistent implementation of these tasks and the Ministry of Higher and Secondary Special Education organized by the Public Council on the recent history of Uzbekistan and coordinating methodological center.

The Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan has an extensive related work. In particular, there are the Institute of History, Language and Literature, Art History, Karakalpakstan Research Institute for the Humanities, State Museum of History of Uzbekistan, Museum of memory of victims of repression, the Museum of Literature.

For the last period together scientists and experts in the historical, socio-political, spiritual and educational areas created 15 books and manuals, conducted scientific conferences and seminars. Organizes scientific journal "Problems recent history of Uzbekistan."

— A thorough study and detailed coverage of our recent history, the nature and value of the achieved success in the years of independence assigns to historians great responsibility, - said the director of the Institute of History of the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan Ravshan Abdullaev. - For these purposes, scientists of the Department of Contemporary History and International Studies, our institute has published more than twenty monographs. In addition, our scientists and young researchers actively participated in organized abroad many conferences on topical issues of contemporary history.

During the event, we analyzed the results of research and practical projects for the study of our recent history. An exchange of views about actual problems waiting to be solved in this area.
