HEADS OF UZBEKISTAN AND TURKMENISTAN OPEN NEW BRIDGES ACROSS AMU DARYA

President Shavkat Mirziyoev, in the framework of his visit to Turkmenistan, with his counterpart Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov visited the city of Turkmenabad, where the parties attended the opening ceremony of road and rail bridges Turkmenabat-Farab across the Amu Darya.

The length of the road bridge is 1600 meters, the railway bridge stretches 1750 meters. Turkmen and Ukrainian experts in the construction of these buildings used German and Norwegian technology.

The two presidents visited exhibition of works by Uzbek and Turkmen masters of folk crafts, handicraft products, organized in the square near the bridges.

The President of our country noted that the bridges are a symbol of friendship between our nations and have geostrategic importance not only for Turkmenistan, but for the entire region, he underlined an extensive work carried out by Uzbekistan towards the development of transport communications. He said the railway line Angren-PAP, which was commissioned last year links Central Asia with China. Mutual integration of the railways of Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan will become an important part of reviving the Great Silk Road, will serve for the development of the region and the welfare of our peoples.

President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov noted that Turkmenistan is putting forward a number of initiatives for the development of transport and transit, while these bridges are a practical implementation of individual measures. He praised the quality of construction works, emphasized the importance of structures and expressed gratitude to the builders and contractors.
