HATAMJON KETMONOV'S MEETING WITH VOTERS OF SAMARQAND REGION

The candidate for President of the Republic of Uzbekistan from the Uzbekistan People’s Democratic Party, Hatamjon Ketmonov, met voters of Samarqand Region on 14 November.

The meeting, which took place in the format of video conference, was opened by a deputy of the Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis (parliament) of the Republic of Uzbekistan, A.Kirgizboyev.

The candidate’s authorised representative, S.Arziqulov, familiarized those gathered with his biography.

Candidate for President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Hatamjon Ketmonov made a speech about his electoral programme.

He said that in the years of independence Samarqand had become more prosperous and beautiful, which was a result of a great deal of creative work carried out under the leadership of the country’s First President and that of the people’s selfless labour. The quality of life changed, and the self-consciousness of residents of Samarqand rose. They cherish their history and values, and with their work, progressive ideas and initiative, they are making a worthy contribution to the country’s development.

Special attention is paid in the candidate’s programme to the issue of further raising the effectiveness of state and public control over the formation of prices on socially significant goods and essential services so that rises in their prices and tariffs do not exceed inflation levels, and to the issue of improving the mechanism for channelling part of funds coming from the privatization of state property into forming housing funds for the purpose of ensuring housing affordability.

The candidate proposed improving the transport infrastructure in order to prevent traffic jams on streets and roads of big cities that arise as a result of an increase in the number of vehicles in the country. He also proposed making major repairs on pavements and building eco-friendly cycling lanes.

The programme specifies such tasks as strengthening the state’s role in implementing a strong social policy, limiting the commercialization of leading social spheres while observing this priority, raising the business sector’s responsibility in issues relating to the provision of reliable social guarantees to all members of society in line with the slogan “Our main goal is strong social security”, as well as developing the system of inclusive education, including supplying the necessary special literature and booklets to children with disabilities and providing students with limited physical abilities with opportunities to study at higher educational institutions.

A student of Samarqand state university, N.Umrov; the director of general education school No 20 in Kattaqorqhon District, Z.Berdiyeva; the chairperson of the Said neighbourhood citizens’ gathering in the city of Samarqand, M.Davronova; and others expressed their opinions on the electoral programme of the candidate. They called on voters to take an active part in the forthcoming elections that are of important significance to the Motherland’s future development and to raising the people’s wellbeing.
