FROM HAND TO HAND

Siberian Alliance group of companies (Russia) is negotiating on the establishment of a complete supply chain of fresh and processed fruit and vegetable products from Uzbekistan to the Russian Federation.

The Russian company and O’zbekozikovkatholding have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to achieve this goal in several stages.

At the first stage, it is planned to conduct a profound market research of the Siberian direction of Russia, identify demand for specific positions on the fresh and processed fruit and vegetables. In the follow up, Uzbekistan will establish a specialized trade house in this region of Russia, which will deal with sorting and logistics of agricultural products that are imported from Uzbekistan.

Ultimately, the parties will aim at establishing a joint venture in Uzbekistan, which will specialize in the delivery of vegetables and fruits, as well as other food products to the trading house in Siberia in accordance with Russian standards.

Late this year, Uzbekistan intends to export about 860,000 tons of fresh and processed fruits and vegetables for more than $720 million.

A total of 270 long-term contracts worth $2 billion were signed at the Tashkent International Fruit and Vegetable Fair in July. The total amount of exported fruits and vegetables under contracts will exceed 2.4 million tons. The Uzbek products are purchased by companies from Russia, USA, China, UK, Germany, UAE, Japan, India, Turkey and other countries.
