FOCUS ON LOCAL PRODUCTION

The Uzbek chemical industry is exploring the feasibility of a project on polyethylene wallpaper production on the basis of the Ferganaazot Company. South Korean investors might act as partners.

The parties are currently actively negotiating. The South Korean side has already embarked on elaboration of a business plan and study of the marketing component of product promotion in the domestic market.

Initially, the Korean side is ready to launch an annual production of thousands of tons of polyethylene wallpaper with a total value of over $10 million, on the basis of Ferganaazot. Later on, the manufacture may be expanded. The sides are currently considering the feasibility of creation of a joint venture under the project, to come up with specific details in the near future.

The successful future of the enterprise is obvious, because the Uzbek market is currently overfilled with wallpaper by Russian, Ukrainian, Chinese, European and South Korean manufacturers.

Transportation from abovementioned countries and customs duties have a serious impact on the final price, so the wallpaper of local production, which promises to be cheaper and better than its counterparts, will quickly occupy a considerable niche in the domestic market. The launch of the new manufacture is scheduled for the end of 2018.
