National Library named after Alisher Navoi organized photo and book exhibition, dedicated to the memory of the honored artist of Uzbekistan, People’s Artist of Karakalpakstan Igor Savitsky.

Thanks to the exhibited scientific works of master, books of his friends, followers and scientists it is possible to create a complete picture of the multifaceted activities of the person, who in love with the culture and folklore of our region. He was recognized as an outstanding researcher of Karakalpak and foreign art, ethnographer and restorer, who has founded the State Art Museum of Karakalpakstan, where he assembled a rich fund of objects of local arts and crafts, items discovered by archaeologists during excavations in the ancient Khorezm, and, of course, the second largest in the world collection of Russian avant-garde. His contributions have been appreciated - in 2002 by the Decree of President Islam Karimov, he was posthumously awarded with the Order "Buyuk xizmatlari uchun".
