ELECTION IS A SIGN OF DEMOCRACY

A conference of the Qoraqalpoghiston Republican council of the Milliy Tiklanish democratic party of Uzbekistan has taken place in Nukus.

The event was attended by officials of the executive committee of the central council of the Milliy Tiklanish democratic party of Uzbekistan, members of the Senate of Oliy Majlis (parliament), the party’s deputies in the Legislative Chamber and in the regional, district and town councils of people’s deputies, active members of the party and journalists.

The conference looked at the party’s preparations for the 4 December 2016 elections of President of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the issue of electing delegates to its scheduled congress.

Extensive reforms directed towards building a law-governed democratic state and strong civil society were implemented in Uzbekistan under the leadership of the country’s First President, and a firm national electoral legislation was created. This legislation completely conforms to universally recognized international standards and democratic principles.

In accordance with the country’s electoral legislation, elections are held by the Central Electoral Commission independently. Equal conditions are created for political parties to participate in elections. Citizens’ right to vote is wholly guaranteed as one of the constitutional and political rights.

During the conference, changes were made to the composition of the Qoraqalpoghiston Republican council of the Milliy Tiklanish democratic party of Uzbekistan, and appropriate decisions were adopted on the considered issues. Delegates were elected to attend the party’s scheduled congress.
