EDGARS BONDARS: "INDEPENDENCE - IS THE MOST PRECIOUS AND SACRED THING THAT PEOPLE COULD HAVE"

Just over a month left until favorite country holiday - Independence Day. In this regard, Information Agency "Jahon" begins publishing a series of interviews with ambassadors accredited in Uzbekistan foreign countries to mark this important date.

Thus, in this issue we present to your attention a conversation with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Latvia in our country Edgars Bondars.

— Independence - is the most precious and sacred thing that people could have, - the diplomat said. - In 24 years of independent development, Uzbekistan has achieved great progress in all areas and every citizen of the Republic can be proud of this grandiose success. I would also like to note that large-scale work in your country on improvement the welfare and quality of life worth of highest appreciation. In my opinion, balanced socio-economic policy and colossal work stand up for your achievements.

Thanks to independence, Uzbekistan became a full member of the international community and developing mutually beneficial cooperation with many countries of the world on the basis of equality and mutual respect. In this context, it should be noted that the friendly and warm Uzbek-Latvian relations are expanding year after year. Consistently stronger and substantially enrich the bilateral relations in political, trade-economic and socio-cultural spheres.

Traditionally in your country each year is dedicated to a specific social orientation. Current year was declared as "Year of attention and care for the senior generation". I think that taking care of the older generation, pay respect and esteem to them are some of the inherent qualities of the noble people of Uzbekistan. In this context, Latvia should take an example fr om Uzbekistan, wh ere comprehensive measures taken through the material and moral support of the elderly.

Celebrating the most valuable, the most beloved date - Independence Day, for any country and people is an important event. In this regard, I wish the friendly people of Uzbekistan prosperity and success in all good deeds and endeavors.
