Uzbekistan national team won the first medal at the Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. Bronze award was obtained by judoka Diyorbek Urozboev, acting in the weight category up to 60 kilograms.
On the way to the medals our compatriot in the qualifying rounds defeated the representatives of Australia Joshua Katz and Switzerland Ludwig Hammartin, losing only in extra time to Kazakhstani judoka Eldos Smetov.
During the matches for third place Diyorbek Urozboev won bronze medalist of the Olympics 2012 in London - Brazilian Felipe Kitadai, and defeated Georgian athlete Amiran Papinashvili.
The gold medal went to Russian Beslan Mudranov, silver medal - Kazakhstani Eldos Smetov, another bronze to Japanese Naohisu Takato.
Recall that in March this year Diyorbek Urozboev won the Grand Prix of Judo, which took place in Tbilisi (Georgia). He is also a bronze medalist of the Grand Slam in Abu Dhabi in October 2015 and the first Grand Prix 2015 in Tashkent.
