DIARIO YA: "UZBEKISTAN - KEY COUNTRY OF THE GREAT SILK ROAD"

Popular Spanish electronic newspaper Diario Ya published an article by journalist Daniel Ponse-Alegre, on the role of Uzbekistan in the development of the Silk Road.

The article tells about the contribution of our country in the expansion of trade and cross-cultural relations between East and West for thousands of years, notes that Uzbekistan plays a key role in the restoration of the transcontinental route in the new historical conditions.

"At the beginning of the first millennium cities of Uzbekistan were important for merchants, diplomats, missionaries and monks who traveled the Silk Road. This is evidenced by the written sources, the diary of Marco Polo, diplomatic documents of Great Tamerlane, Persia and Michael VIII, Paleologos of Constantinople. Located in the heart of the Silk Road, the Uzbek cities make enormous contribution to the prosperity of trade and cultural relations between the key cities. Throughout its history, rich culture of the Uzbek people enriched by contact with the cultures and traditions of other nations", - the Spanish edition wrote.

The author describes with admiration the beauty of the architectural landmarks of our historic towns that flourished along the ancient Silk Road:

"The magnificent monuments and colorful domes covered with blue tiles are part of the landscape of amazing cities in Uzbekistan. They can be found in the vicinity of "Ichan Kala" in Khiva, located in the ancient Khorezm, in the capital Tashkent, which is in the East. Between them is the majestic Samarkand - the heart of the Silk Road ... From here the great Amir Temur governed one of the largest empires in history", - journalist says.

The article also mentioned that during the years of independence Uzbekistan has successfully developed a variety of sectors of the economy, especially the textile industry. "Cotton is the most widely used material in the textile industry of Uzbekistan. But the country not only exports cotton, but also offers beautiful carpets, wool and silk", - the newspaper notes.

The author is convinced that Uzbekistan is expected to play a key role in international efforts to restore the ancient transcontinental route in a new historical context.

"The restoration project of the Silk Road, agreements and cooperation on its implementation, designed to bring significant benefits to all stakeholders. Uzbekistan has been and remains a key country in the Great Silk Road", - D.Ponse-Alegre concludes.
