					The “Eng ulugh, eng aziz” (the greatest and dearest) republican contest’s regional stage has taken place in Andijon, eastern Uzbekistan, under the slogan of “My life, my destiny – my sacred homeland, my beautiful and unique Uzbekistan”.
This event was held as part of the implementation of the presidential decree dated 2 June this year “On preparations for the 25th anniversary of the state independence of the Republic of Uzbekistan and celebrations of this holiday”.
It was noted at the event that creative workers, including young artists, were also making a worthy contribution to widely propagating great achievements and landmarks attained during the years of independence and construction and improvement work being carried out as well as to enhancing the nation’s morality.
“During the contest, more than 400 creative works of poets and writers, representatives of print and electronic media, painters, photographers and designers as well as masters of applied arts were examined. Participants displayed through their works of art the essence and significance of great achievements being made during the years of independence in our country, including Andijon Region, construction work, our rich history, traditions and national values,” says A.Sultonov, the director of the Andijon Regional media and information directorate.
In the creative works area, as announced on television and radio, the team of the Andijon television and radio company won, in journalistic works by print media workers, Gholibjon Abdullayev, chief of a section of the Andijonnoma newspaper, won a victory. In the artistic creation area, writer Qamchibek Kenja, and in the area of visual arts, photo and design, Hayotullo Turdiknonov, a photographer of the Kolor-print LLC in the city of Andijon, achieved victories.
“I have participated in the `Eng ulugh, eng aziz’ contest for the first time. I am glad that my creative works in the area of visual arts are to the liking of many people. This gives me creative strength and inspiration and prompts me to create a colourful depiction of changes and novelties in our country’s life,” says Dilnoza Ibrohimova, a student of children’s music and art school No 9 in Khojaobod Disrict.
The winners and runners-up in all the nominations were given diplomas and memorable gifts.
