ACHIEVEMENT OF THE MDGS IN UZBEKISTAN STUDYING IN CHINA

In the Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences and the Department of Foreign Affairs of the Government of the city of Yancheng (Jiangsu) held presentations on the Millennium Development Goals in Uzbekistan.

The event was attended by representatives of the socio-political and expert-analytical circles of China. They were introduced to the National Report on the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) in Uzbekistan, prepared by the Ministry of economy of our country and the UNDP Resident Office in the country.

During the presentation, it was noted that Uzbekistan has achieved good results in the implementation of the global partnership, improving the quality of education in primary and secondary schools, promoting gender equality, improving maternal health, combating HIV / AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria, ensuring environmental sustainability.

The participants appreciated the undertaken measures in our country for the achievement of the MDG objectives and results of large-scale reforms in the socio-economic sphere.

Thus, the director of the Center for Russian and Central Asian countries in the SHAON Pan Dawei said that Uzbekistan’s progress in implementing the eight main areas of sustainable development deserves great respect.

— As a member of the international monitoring of the parliamentary and presidential elections in your country in the years 2014-2015, I can safely say that the steady growth of the Uzbek economy achieved thanks to the wise and far-sighted policy of President Islam Karimov, which will create the necessary prerequisites for sustainable development of public health minimizing infant mortality, increasing life minimum among the population, - he said. - Taking into account the degree and extent of the spread of infectious diseases, particularly AIDS in China, especially among young people, raising combat these illnesses of our time to the rank of the priority tasks of the Government of Uzbekistan should be taken into account in the international community. Obviously, thanks to competent strategy, further training of national cadres in the country has achieved significant progress in the fight against infectious diseases.

Not by chance, the Republic confidently executed commitments to protect the population in the framework of the state program "Year of prosperity and well-being" and "Year of healthy child", and successfully held the international conference "Participation of NGOs in the implementation of tasks to achieve the Millennium Development Goals: experience of Uzbekistan" in September 2013.

The Secretary-General of the Centre for Russian and Central Asian countries in the SHAON Jang Tszyanjun noted that the adopted at the UN summit in 2000, the Millennium Development Goals identified a number of important tasks to improve the quality of life and well-being of people.

— In this context, China and Uzbekistan, as a responsible member of the international community, should commit strictly, - he said. - In particular, access to general primary education, expanded the rights of women, reduced child mortality. A major role in this was played by nongovernmental organizations in the country.
