A cultural event timed to interethnic harmony was held at Karakalpak State Academic Musical Theater named after Berdakh

Yesterday, a cultural event timed to interethnic harmony was held at Karakalpak State Academic Musical Theater named after Berdakh, reports “Dunyo” IA correspondent.

According to the press service of the Head of state, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev took part in the event.

This institution with almost a century of history has a worthy place in the development of art, education of youth and cultural life of the country. In recent years, the theater has been renovated, the equipment has been updated. In 2017, it was awarded the status of an academic theater.

Here, the Head of state, together with representatives of the older generation and artists, watched the art program.

Representatives of many nationalities live in Karakalpakstan. Their life in friendship and harmony became the central theme of the event. Excerpts from folk poems, Karakalpak songs “Shagala”, “Dembermes”, “Nigarym” were performed, samples of works by Alisher Navoi, Berdakh, Makhtumkuli and Abai were recited. Having performed the poem of the Hero of Uzbekistan Ibrahim Yusupov “Tugishganlik” and the song “Uzbekistan” written in his poems, the artists sang the value of interethnic harmony, unity and peace.

The President talked with Karakalpak artists and representatives of the cultural sphere in the theater. He highly appreciated the art program.

Uzbeks and Karakalpaks are one nation with two languages. Living side by side for centuries, they became friends and brothers, one nation. Today they are walking together on the path of peaceful development and prosperity of the country. The embodiment of this can be seen not only on stage, but also in our lives.

The importance of expanding the repertoire of theaters with works glorifying these values, conducting tours, returning young people to theaters and enriching their culture was emphasized during the conversation.
